Resolved: Mozilla's firing of Brendan Eich was Intolerant. Discuss?

Firefox was my preferred browser, maybe it was yours too.

I was surprised by this recent controversy, the CEO being fired because he opposed gay marriage in 2008.  Should we fire the president then?

This controversy has engaged so many different media providers from left and right.

The Atlantic blog publishes an article by a pro gay marriage activist titled:

"Mozilla's Gay-Marriage Litmus Test Violates Liberal Values"

 The Christian Science Monitor proclaimed:

"Mozilla’s Brendan Eich and gay marriage: Intolerance over tolerance?"

What's your opinion?  Will your browser choice be determined by your politics?  OR maybe this is not politics for you?  Join the conversation.

I have Microsoft Explorer and not mozilla. If I had mozilla, I certainly would not have removed it, because of anti-gay statements of its inventor. If he is opposed to gay people, you must also respect his point of view. You can not expect everyone to approve what is obvious to us. Unfortunately, many think like him.

A company should know about the positions their upper management have publicly declared and how those positions match with the company's. Are past statements and contributions currently held or have they changed? Will this person further advance the company's positions or possibly reverse them?
