Swimming Worlds Wrap up by Rexswimguy

Before we get prepped for all the great aquatics sports events coming our way this summer, it wouldn't hurt to do a final wrap on last year's world swimming championships in December.

And, the exciting news coming out of that event was that three world records were set ... two by Florent Manaudou of France and one by Markus Deibler of Germany.

The less-than-exciting news was that Markus Deibler subsequently made a decision to retire from competitive swimming (aargh).  He will be sorely missed!

P.S. You can catch a video of Markus informally chatting about his prowess in the pool here.

... Markus Deibler, the man the legend:

Name: Markus Deibler
Date of Birth: January 28, 1990 (Aquarius)
Hometown: Biberach, Germany
Height/Weight: 6'6"/207 lbs
Sport: Swimming
--- 2014 World Championships gold medalist, 100-meter Medley
--- World Record Holder, 100-meter Medley (50.66)
