Rafael Nadal is still in the game, having thrashed his friend, Frenchman Richard Gasquet, to advance. Nadal, bidding for a record-extending 11th Roland Garros title, was completely untroubled by the 31-year-old Gasquet, cruising to a 6-3, 6-2, 6-2 victory in exactly two hours. Nadal has never tasted defeat against Gasquet, winning all 16 of their matches. Top seed Nadal won the first 12 points of the match and opened up a 5-0 led before Gasquet finally got into the contest, but it was too little, too late for the home crowd favourite.
Also still in the competion is German Alexander Zverev, well known to readers of this space. His brother Mischa has already washed out.
Also ongoing, in the USA, are NCAA Baseball, Rugby and Lacrosse playoffs, which you might be lucky enough to find on a station near you.
