More Matteo Martino 中国, Italia, Volleyball
Even more of great Italian Volleyball player Matteo Martino.
Those trying to make Volleyball more marketable to a wider audience should take a lesson and feature players like Matteo more often! Instead, he is having trouble getting sponsors for his beach volleyball career, and so is playing indoor in China.

中国: Italian Volleyball Star, Matteo Martino
Matteo Martino is an Italian volleyball player who was born
in Alessandria, Italy on January 28,
1987.
Although he has played for many international teams, he
currently plays as a striker in Guangdong, China.
Matteo Martino's career began in 2004 in the volleyball team
of Busca; in 2005, with the Under-19 national team he won the bronze medal at
the European championship and at the world championship. In the 2005-06 season
he played in Serie A1 with Piedmont Volley in Cuneo, winning the Coppa Italia;
on November 17, 2005, he made his debut in the national team at the All Star
Game, while with the Under-20 national team he won the bronze medal at the 2006
European Championship. After playing for several minor league Italian teams in
his youth, he played for Milano, Macerata, and in 2010 began to play beach
volleyball. He then started his
international career in Poland, and played briefly in Italy and France before
moving to Russia, and then Saudi Arabia.
He has met great success in Guangdong.
Apparently good volleyball players are in high demand, and
can move about freely. Martino in the
past has been called one of the most ”ungrateful players in the world," probably
after he left one team for a better offer.
He has the reputation of being the “bad boy” of Italian volleyball. He
is a strong player, who gets the job done.
