Mens 10m Platform Diving

In all the excitement of the end of the Olympics, my most exciting and favorite  moment was kind of swallowed up in the process:  the results in the Mens 10m platform diving, including an American Victory and  a great finish for all around good lad Tom Daley, who is lining up as poster boy for the new Britain.

For the first time since the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, an American took the gold in the 10 m Platform event, and China missed out for the second straight Olympics.

18 year old diver Tom Daley, of Great Britain, took the Bronze Medal in superb fashion.  Who could not be excited as his possible first place finish, leading as he did in the standings until the final round.  Who could not love his positive attitude and enthusiasm?  It is great we will see him compete for many years to come.    David Boudia won the men's 10m platform at the London Olympics, giving the U.S. its first gold medal in diving since 2000.  Boudia clinched the gold with his tremendous last dive, winning by 1.8 points over Qiu Bo of China.  As mentioned, Tom Daley of Britain settled for the bronze after leading going into the final dive. Boudia, with his partner in synchronized diving, Nick McCrory, had taken a bronze medal in this year's competition.

The swimming arena was on fire with loud crowds to support the home team, so raucous and excited, that on Tom Daley's first dive a breach of protocol, several flashes, went off blinding him from seeing the water.  He was able to repeat the dive, according to the rules of the sport.

Well known metrosexual and Soccer star David Beckham was present for the evening, along with several crowned heads, and great numbers of supporters who traveled to witness the event from the land of the free and the home of the brave.

Congratulations to Boudia!
