Sport Sunday: NBA, NHL, and IPL Cricket

The National Hockey League's Stanley Cup playoffs are at the Conference Championship stage.  Each of the four teams still in the overall championship search have one game under their belt.  The Washington Capitals beat the Tampa Bay Lightning  on Friday 4-2. They will play again Sunday evening at Tampa Bay.  Meanwhile, the Winnipeg Jets won their first game Saturday against the Vegas Golden Knights, also 4-2.  They play again, at Winnipeg on Monday night.

Sunday sees the start of the Eastern and Western Conference Championships of the National Basketball Association.  NBA's Boston Celtics take on the Cleveland Cavaliers in Boston tonight in the Eastern Conference Championship.  The Western Conference Championship's first game will be played on Monday night when the Houston Rockets host the Golden State Warriors.  The playoffs are staggered, every other day on opposite days, so that pro basketball can be yours every night of the week.

In India Premier League Cricket, AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli combined to knock the Daredevils out of contention.  Skipper Kohli and de Villiers scored fifty apiece to help the Royal Challengers Bangalore beat the Delhi Daredevils by five wickets in their must-win game at the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium in New Dehli  on Saturday.

The victory kept RCB alive in the tournament, even though they remained at seventh in the 2018 Indian Premier League standings.  The fourth win in 11 games took RCB's tally to eight points, but they still need to win all their remaining three games to land a play-off spot.  The Daredevils are 3-9 on the season, and are finished as far as the standings go.  The Sunrisers Hyderabad currently top the table followed by the Chennai Super Kings.
